Wow, Ammre has been providing a lot of Cephaloblog content for me lately. You’ll especially see what I mean next week. But I digress – of course, it was she who pointed me in the direction of this lovely 100% silicone tentacle from EdenFantasys.com pictured above.
Damn, I wish I had seen this cake before my Earthday-birthday last month, so I could have demanded it from my aspiring cake artist sister! I love that it’s fondant covered and very giant-squid-colored (aka red?). Now you’ve got a year head start, Kel!
And as a side note, I am totally overwhelmed by the amazing response to the Lunapads Contest Giveaway! I am so glad that I’m able to offer a little something to everyone who entered, because all of the comments are so great, you ALL deserve a prize.
You’ve got until the end of the month, so keep ’em coming – and tell all your mothers, sisters, daughters and girlfriends to come on over and enter too! Share the Lunapad love!
First, thanks to Ammre for linking me to the wonderful cephalopod cartoon shown above. I not only love the style of the graphic, but I think the caption is hilarious.Â
Second, just a quick update since I have not made a post in awhile:
1) I DID get that red squid necklace that was sold out for my birthday – can you believe it?! Thanks again to Noadi for her great cephalopod designs!
2) I’ve been carrying a folded reusable tote in my purse (which, let’s be honest, could probably function as a reusable tote on it’s own, it’s so big) and using it instead of plastic bags when I shop anywhere.
3) It’s been NICE OUT – which is the main reason I have not been updating Cephaloblog. I’ve got spring fever, which in my neck of the woods can be dangerous, because there is always the threat of a winter storm right up until June.
That being said, I’ve got a bunch of half-finished posts just waiting to be published, so look forward to regular updates for the next few weeks!
My dear friend Julia sent me a link to this photo after, of course, seeing something squid related and thinking of me. But my favorite thing about this photo is that it is truly of cephalopods: there aren’t just squid in there, but octopus and cuttlefish too.
And that’s no surprise, because after checking out Noadi.net and her Etsy page, it’s apparent that Noadi’s creator/alter ego, Sheryl Westleigh, is a true cephalopod fan herself. She sculpts beautiful necklaces, earrings, hair sticks and more out of polymer clay.
I used to always say that I hated talking and hearing about others’ or my own dreams. And I can honestly say now that I can’t figure out why I ever felt that way.
Dreams are a significant part of my life, considering that I dream every night (once upon a time, I was shocked to learn that not everyone does – it was inconceivable to a nightly dreamer like myself). This might be weird, but I can track my past through reoccurring dreams (and I’m talking dreams here, not aspirations… you know, the fucked up stuff that happens in your head when you sleep at night).
I have one reoccuring dream that I can date back to when my biological parents (I know this is a weird phrasing… I am not adopted, it’s just that I consider my stepparents my parents as well, and I’m not sure how to make the distinction) were still together… and I was four when they split up.
My friend Kat sent this to me. Ironically, I am reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for the first time right now.
I would definitely like to get one of these in the future, despite the fact that I think $25 is an obscene amount of money for a whisk. I think I like #5 the best.
But I have to admit, it really bothers me that these squid whisks only have 8 arms. Squid have 10 (well, technically, 8 arms and 2 tentacles).
